THE LIDSTONE MEMORIAL KYUSHA TAIKAI 2013

This taikai is for individual kyu grade members of the BKA, i.e. those at an early stage in their kendo development and explicitly those who have yet not achieved shodan and have no more than 3 years’ kendo experience or those who have failed a shodan examination in the last 2 years.  

There is a minimum age limit of 18 years.  
All participants must be paid up members of the BKA.  
The match will be a knockout, run according to IKF Shiai rules, except where announced by the Chief Judge.  Note: Tsuki will not be permitted.  Matches will be sanbon shobu (of 3-5 minute duration depending on entry numbers). There will be shiai geiko from 10am to 12noon for all participants.
Registration By Wednesday 9th October by e-mail only to Nenrikikendo@gmail.com (Lidstone 2013 in title and provide your name, grade, experience or date of last shodan exam, dojo and confirm you are a BKA member).  No entry will be accepted after this deadline.

Entry fee £10 per person - payable on signing in (9-10am) on the day.  Registered entrants not signed in and paid by 10am will be withdrawn.
Refreshments – there is a cafĂ© on site with limited sandwiches.   There will be drinks for officials and all attendees are invited to join us for light refreshments in the Rising Sun after the practice.
Referees – all clubs are invited to nominate referees 3rd dan kendo or above (nominations before 1st October please by e-mail to Nenrikikendo@gmail.com ).
Helpers – volunteers are required for court administration roles (e.g. Recorder, Timekeeper, Score Board).  Please contact Nenrikikendo@gmail.com if you can help, or just volunteer on the day.  No prior experience necessary and don’t hesitate to volunteer if you wish to learn these roles.

Directions - Black Prince Community Hub is off Black Prince Rd, opposite Vauxhall Street.  Parking available in the centre or on Black Prince Rd.  (no congestion charge at the weekend)  Closest bus route is 360 (runs between Vauxhall tube and Elephant and Castle tube/rail) or 3/159/59 from Lambeth  North tube.
